Christopher N. Spellman, M.D.
Christopher N. Spellman, M.D., is a board certified comprehensive ophthalmologist with sub-specialty training in glaucoma. Dr. Spellman is trained in the latest diagnostic and treatment modalities for glaucoma, cataracts and refractive surgery, as well as other medical and surgical problems of the eye.
After growing up in San Diego County, Dr. Spellman graduated with honors from the University of California, where he attended both the San Diego and the Santa Cruz campuses. He received Bachelor Degrees in both Biology and Psychology. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin and trained in general surgery at the Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. Dr. Spellman received specialty training in Ophthalmology and served as Chief Resident at the North-Shore University-LIJ Medical Center in New York. Following residency, he completed Fellowship training in glaucoma and Anterior Segment at the world-renowned New York-Presbyterian, Cornell University Medical Center. Dr. Spellman has presented papers at the American Academy of Surgery, written protocols for Cornell University research projects and has participated in pharmaceutical research for numerous ophthalmic pharmaceutical companies.
Dr. Spellman is a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology, a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
Dr. Spellman lives in Carlsbad with his wife and two sons. He enjoys sailing, skiing, tennis, skating and camping.
