Jeffrey B. Morris, M.D., M.P.H.
Jeffrey B. Morris, M.D., M.P.H. is a board certified cataract surgeon with 20 years of experience in microsurgery of the eye. Dr. Morris has performed over 15,000 laser and intraocular surgeries. He is also a LASIK/PRK certified surgeon and is the first surgeon in San Diego to be certified in surgical contact lens implantation (ICL). With his combined skills in Laser Refractive Surgery and Intraocular Lens Implantation (IOL) Surgery, he is uniquely qualified to offer the new array of Smart Lens implants for treatment of near vision for treatment of cataracts and restoration of near vision. The new Multi-focal Alcon Restor® IOL, Tecnis Multifocal® IOL, and the Bausch & Lomb Crystalens® are all Smart Lens options Dr. Morris uses.
Dr. Morris, Founder and Medical Director of Morris Eye Group, received his undergraduate degree from Southern Methodist University and his Masters in Public Health from the University of Texas, School of Public Health. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, he interned at the University of Southern California/Doheny Eye Institute in Los Angeles and completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of California Medical School at San Diego/Shiley Eye Center.
Before entering private practice, Dr. Morris served as a Commissioned Officer in the United States Public Health Service. Additionally, he worked as a Health Policy Analyst for the National Cancer Institute and as a Clinical Epidemiologist for the Federal Food and Drug Administration. In the area of clinical research, as Principal Investigator, Dr. Morris has conducted numerous pharmaceutical clinical trials for Alcon Laboratories, Inc., Allergan, Inc. and Merck & Co., Inc. In 1993, Dr. Morris served as a Presidential Appointee - one of only two surgeons in the country to serve on the White House Health Care Reform Advisory Task Force.
Dr. Morris is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS). He has authored articles in research and health economics and is a member of the Editorial Board for the professional journal, Review of Ophthalmology.
He lives with his wife and two dogs Max and Peanut in Carmel Valley. He is an avid sports fan, enjoys playing golf, and true to his native Texas roots, he also loves to Barbecue!
