Charles T. Zenzen, M.D.

Charles T. Zenzen, M.D., is a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist with experience in the medical and surgical management of a multitude of ocular diseases including cataracts, glaucoma, dry eye, diabetic eye disease, disorders of the eyelids and ocular manifestations of neurologic diseases.
Dr. Zenzen was born and raised in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. He attended Albion College and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. Dr. Zenzen earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. He completed his residency training in ophthalmology at the Kresge Eye Institute/Detroit Medical Center where he was elected Chief Resident in his third year of training.
Dr. Zenzen has spent the past 16 years in private practice as a comprehensive ophthalmologist in the Great Lakes Bay Region of Michigan. During that time, he has performed over 6000 cataract surgeries. He has experience with a wide variety of intraocular lens implants including advanced technology lenses for the correction of astigmatism and correction of near vision. He also has experience with the use of minimally invasive surgical techniques to treat glaucoma during cataract surgery.
In addition to his surgical practice, Dr. Zenzen has a special interest in the diagnosis and management of neuro-ophthalmic conditions and the treatment of dry eye disease.
Dr. Zenzen has presented at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and has been published in JAMA Ophthalmology.
He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery as well as the Phi Beta Kappa Society and Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
In his free time Dr. Zenzen enjoys outdoor activities including running, hiking, rock climbing, backpacking and landscape photography. He also enjoys spending time with his wife Wanda and daughter Abigail, especially their family road trips.
